Impact of Donations
Throughout the 2024-2025 school year, the WPSBC Foundation has helped fund
projects both large and small for the benefit of the students who learn and grow
at the School. A few of the projects that have been made possible in part through
your donations this year include:
Children’s Garden
During the 2024-2025 school year, we broke ground on a
much-anticipated project: renovating the Children’s Garden located
next to the Janet Simon Building at WPSBC. As part of the project to
revitalize the space, plans include the construction of an accessible
children’s playscape, a water feature, a pavilion, and a sensory
garden that will bring more smiles and enjoyment for our students,
as well as children in A Child’s VIEW, our onsite childcare program.
N. Neville Adult Services
Recognizing an incredible need for adult day programming and
respite care in our region, the School alongside the Foundation
purchased a propery on North Neville Street, just a few blocks from
the School. We broke ground on this new facility in September 2024
and have made significant progress towards a renovation of the
property.
The North Neville Project will include space for adult programming,
four respite beds, alumni meeting space, and room for the Braille
Project, which is currently housed in the School. The adult program
will also expand to better serve individuals with intellectual
disabilities by opening enrollment to adults throughout the
southwestern Pennsylvania region. We are thrilled to expand our
impact.
In the Classroom and Beyond
From adaptive technology that helps our students communicate to
music and art that enrich their learning, financial contributions
provide meaningful opportunities for our students and the entire
WPSBC team. Each and every day, we are bringing smiles, laughter,
and learning to a diverse group of individuals with visual
impairments and blindness, helping them achieve their goals
through personalized education plans and comprehensive support.
