Allison Burke
Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI), Primary Program
Allison Burke was in her
junior year at the University
of Pittsburgh when she
discovered her life-long
passion—and her future home—
Allison first came to WPSBC to
complete an observation required for
her education major. Within minutes
of seeing a Teacher of Students with
Visual Impairments (TVI) in action,
everything clicked. As soon as she
graduated from the University of
Pittsburgh, she joined our team as
a TVI for our Primary Program and
has been an exceptional asset to
“My observation placement
at WPSBC was truly one of
convenience, being that it
was so close to my college.
Looking back now, it feels
more like kismet. I knew I
belonged here from the
moment I stepped on
campus.”
Allison thrives on collaboration with
other team members, constantly
brainstorming new ways for her
students to learn through play. She
loves the freedom to be creative,
and appreciates that WPSBC’s
curriculum gives her both structure
and flexibility to adapt lessons to
each child’s needs.
If you ask Allison what makes WPSBC
so special, the answer is simple: “I
love to help families discover not
what their child can’t do, but what
they can do. You never know what
surprises await inside of a person,
and I’m lucky enough to be someone
who helps bring those out.”
We feel equally lucky to have Allison
as part of the WPSBC family.
